JAPAN ~ Ukiha (2012-2013) Nagarekawa Cherry Blossom

 Ukiha city is one of these beautiful places that although is getting more popular with Japanese tourism it is mostly unknown with foreign tourists, probably because it has not been mentioned extensively yet by any major foreign travel guidebook. Located in Kyushu, just one hour away from Fukuoka, it is easily reachable by car, bus or train.  There are many appealing attractions from natural sites like parks with waterfalls to stunning rice terraces, endless fruit farms in which you could experience fruit picking at the right season, beautiful temples, shrines, onsen and cozy little cafes, all of these will try to cover in future posts. But there is one attraction that is the most popular and it is only available for a few days a year, enjoying the cherry blossoms at the Nagarekawa Cherry Blossom Avenue .  The cherry trees line up in both sides of the path creating a fairy tale atmosphere during the cherry blossoms season.  Was really happy to photograph ...

Paradise Gate Canyoning (2017) - Tzoumerka, Epirus, GREECE

Video feature and pictured one of the many highlights of canyoning in Paradise Gate.   The previous day we did canyoning in Stavraetos gorge (link to the post at the end of this post), for today the expectations were higher as we were to do canyoning in Paradise Gate (Πύλη Παραδείσου), always in Tzoumerka (Τζουμέρκα), Epirus (Ήπειρος). We met at 09.30am at the carpark of Syrrako village and went on our way by car, the starting point was around 12km far. View from the car while approaching the starting point. In this canyoning the starting-ending point are not the same but a 10min. drive apart. So we left a car with the dry stuff at the ending point and continued with the rest to the start.  The starting point, a small diversion of the signposted route will take us down to the canyon. Cycling Agistri island (Saronic Gulf - GREECE)

Agistri island along with Aegina and the neighboring islands consisted of the Kingdom of Aegina of the mythical King Aeakos. According to Homer, Agistri was called Kekrifalia, which means "adorned head" and appears as an ally of Aegina during the Trojan War. Tradition notes that visitors amazed by the natural beauty of the island were caught like fish on the hook and lived there for all their lives (Agistri means fish-hook). Today, only 1.5 hour away from Piraeus by ferry (or faster with flying dolphin) its a small heaven on earth situated at the Saronic Gulf, smothered in plants and trees, with pine trees touching its crystal blue waters. And the best part: until now mass tourism hasn't arrived yet!
