Silk Road cycling video (2012)

This is a short video overview of cycling the Silk Road with 6 gears mamachari city bikes, from Japan to Greece. Didn't have in mind to make a video feature back then so most of the -hard- times when we were cycling I didn't shoot any videos (a few photos though), at least I was shooting short handheld clips here and there and managed to make this one. Will be making a few more story-style more specific videos about this trip in the future. In this cycling trip we passed through  Japan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Greece. Majestic landscapes, amazing people, weird food and interesting cultures!

JAPAN ~ Ukiha (2012-2013) Nagarekawa Cherry Blossom

 Ukiha city is one of these beautiful places that although is getting more popular with Japanese tourism it is mostly unknown with foreign tourists, probably because it has not been mentioned extensively yet by any major foreign travel guidebook. Located in Kyushu, just one hour away from Fukuoka, it is easily reachable by car, bus or train.  There are many appealing attractions from natural sites like parks with waterfalls to stunning rice terraces, endless fruit farms in which you could experience fruit picking at the right season, beautiful temples, shrines, onsen and cozy little cafes, all of these will try to cover in future posts. But there is one attraction that is the most popular and it is only available for a few days a year, enjoying the cherry blossoms at the Nagarekawa Cherry Blossom Avenue .  The cherry trees line up in both sides of the path creating a fairy tale atmosphere during the cherry blossoms season.  Was really happy to photograph ...

Iceland (2006) ~ 07. Laugavegur trek Day2

Day 2: Hrafntinnusker to Alftavatn (12km) Woke up around 07.00 from my excitement, had a look outside, everything was covered with snow but there was no rain! Breakfast and around 08.00 we depart, our destination today is Alftavatn which is 12km away.  My backpack is on the table and we are ready to depart. Leaving back Hrafntinnusker hut, it was a great place to rest.  The track descends to cross a stream then bounces over parallel rhyolite ridges and snow bridges before ascending steeply to a ridge studded with hot springs and fumaroles. At some point after crossing this field it started snowing. Going through the snow bridges we pass one by one, there is the danger of collapsing due to excessive weight.  Wanted to have a photo to really remember I was there in that amazing place.
